Ohio Contractor License Reciprocity
Ohio has reciprocity agreements with 8 states. These agreements may allow you to skip certain trade exams when applying for a license in those states, or when applying for a Ohio license with credentials from those states.

Electrical contractor trade exam waiver. Must pass AL Business & Law exam. Current valid license required.
Electrical license reciprocity — Kentucky accepts equivalent Ohio electrical licenses. HVAC license reciprocity — Kentucky accepts equivalent Ohio Master HVAC contractor license for exam waiver.
Trade exam waiver for electrical and plumbing classifications. Mississippi Business and Law exam still required.
Trade/technical exam waiver for qualifying license holders. Must still pass SC Business Management & Law exam.

HVAC trade exam waiver for licensed Ohio HVAC contractors. Must still pass Ohio Business and Law exam and meet all other OCILB requirements.
Trade exam waiver for licensed Ohio contractors in HVAC and plumbing. Must still meet all other OCILB requirements including Business and Law exam.
Trade exam waiver agreement for electrical and HVAC contractors. Licensed Ohio contractors may qualify for exam waiver in Tennessee and vice versa.
HVAC trade exam waiver for licensed Ohio HVAC contractors. Must still meet all other state requirements.
Trade exam waiver for HVAC and plumbing contractors. Licensed Ohio contractors may qualify for reciprocal licensing.

Working in Ohio with an out-of-state company?
Reciprocity moves your license, not your business. An LLC formed elsewhere generally has to register as a foreign entity in Ohio before it can contract there — Northwest files the qualification and serves as the in-state registered agent.
